Salinas Police investigate two bakery robberies

Salinas police are investigating two robberies in the city Monday night.

First, a robbery at a bakery on the 500 block of E. Laurel Drive just before 8 p.m.. Police say the suspect had a gun and demanded money. He left with cash from the register.

The suspect is described as a man in his late twenties, 6’1″, 180-190 lbs, wearing a black hoodie pulled up over his face. Witnesses thought the suspect fired the gun as he ran away, but police couldn’t confirm that. The suspect was last seen running southbound on Grenada.

Police say another bakery on the 500 block of Alisal Street was also robbed just before 9 p.m.. The suspect had a double barreled shotgun and demanded money. He also took off with cash from the register.

The suspect in this case is described as a man in his mid twenties, 5’10”, medium build, wearing a grey sweatshirt, and a yellow rag over his face.
