Polar Express set to roll

After a weeklong delay, the Polar Express holiday train is set to roll out of Santa Cruz Friday night. It will be its second try.

Train service was scheduled to start on November 18, but was canceled when some of the train’s cars didn’t arrive on time.

The short ride to the North Pole runs on a section of seldom-used track between Santa Cruz and Captiola. While youngsters will likely be pleased, residents living near the tracks have voiced concern over noise and congestion.

Tonight, KION’s Linda Zhang will report live from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
