Two dead in Salinas car crash
UPDATE 11/21/16 11:45 AM: Salinas Police released new information Monday about Sunday morning’s double fatal traffic collision on East Alisal Street, east of Front Street.
According to police, the driver, Osvaldo Garcia, 20, and passenger Daniella Perez, 24, were killed when Garcia lost control of a 2016 Nissan 370Z while traveling eastbound on East Alisal Street. Police say the car fishtailed and struck a center median before traveling across two lanes and colliding with the support pillar of a train bridge. Both Garcia and Perez died at the scene.
Police say there is no indication that alcohol was involved.
These are the ninth and tenth traffic fatalities in Salinas this year.
ORIGINAL STORY: Two people are dead after a car crash in Salinas.
It happened just after 3:00 a.m. Sunday under the railroad overpass on East Alisal Street, east of Front Street.
Police arrived to find a 20-year-old man and 24-year-old woman dead, after what appeared to be a solo vehicle crash.
Investigators believe the car was traveling at an undetermined high rate of speed when it lost control. It then struck the support pillar of the railroad overpass.
