A bunch of yeses for cannabis measures

When it came to measures involving cannabis, voters on the Central Coast said “yes” way more than they said “no.”

A total of eight cannabis related measures made it on ballots in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties and all of them appeared to have got the thumbs up in the November 8th election. (Some vote by mail ballots received on Nov. 8th have yet to be counted.)

A majority of voters passed Monterey County’s Measure Y that would tax commercial cannabis businesses in unincorporated Monterey County $25 per square foot and $5 per square foot in nurseries.

A $25 per square foot tax on commercial cannabis businesses was approved in the City of Salinas, revenues to go toward funding city services.
