Santa Cruz Police said Jesus Covarrubias, 26, of Rancho Cucamonga was arrested and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.

Police said Covarrubias initially showed up at the county jail, indicating he was responsible for the deadly crash in Boulder Creek on Oct. 30 killing Alexandria Arceneaux, 20.But when detectives began interviewing him, he became uncooperative and refused to give a statement, police said.

Investigators said the Honda CRV involved in the crash was recovered and showed damage to the front end passenger side of the car.

PREVIOUS STORY: The UCSC student critically injured in a hit and run collision on October 30th has died, according to Santa Cruz Police.

She’s identified as Alexandria Arceneaux, 20. Police say her family from Los Angeles has been by her side at a Bay Area trauma center. Arceneaux succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, November 5th.

The Santa Cruz Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding the 2010-2012 silver Honda CRV with passenger side front bumper damage.

Detectives are also asking auto repair shops to keep an eye out for cars matching that description and to report damage that looks like it could be related to the collision.

Arceneaux was struck around 1:55 a.m. just south of the railroad tracks on southbound Highway 1 between River Street and Mission Street. Police say a silver Honda CRV took off without stopping.
