Watsonville man arrested in attempted murder

A Watsonville man was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting in downtown Monterey on October 16, according to police.

Roberto Escobar Ruiz, a 22-years old from Watsonville, was arrested for attempted murder, possession of drug paraphernalia and a dagger, police said.

Detectives saw the suspect’s car in the city of Monterey. Ruiz’s car has been connected to the shooting that took place in the 400 block of Alvarado St. in Monterey. There ware no injuries reported.

Ruiz has been booked into the Monterey County Jail and his bail has been set at $1 million.
