Kayaker rescued near Pebble Beach
On Tuesday, three different agencies responded to a kayaker in distress in Stillwater Cove at Pebble Beach.
A rescue craft, jet ski, and inflatable rescue boat were deployed, but a dense, low fog shrouded the coast making it difficult to initially find the distressed kayaker.
Once found, the kayaker did not require medical assistance, but could not bail the kayak after it was swamped by a swell while fishing off of the coast.
The public is reminded of the importance of life jackets when kayaking along the coast of California. California boating laws require that kayaks of any length shall have a Type I, II, III or V life jacket for each person on board.
