5 arrested during Salinas probation sweep

The Salinas Police Department’s Violence Suppression Unit assisted Probation in the arrest of a group of suspected gang members Saturday during a probation sweep.

A total of five people were arrested and according to police they either had a gang history or warrants out for their arrest. During the sweep police also found one ballistic vest, one semi-auto handgun and nearly 5 grams of methamphetamine.

All of the alleged gang members are now at the Monterey County Jail.
