Trio arrested in Salinas after burglary and pursuit

Three people are behind bars after a burglary led to a pursuit Thursday in Salinas.

Police say it all started in the 400-block of Tyler Street, when the trio was seen taking a rifle safe from an apartment and driving away.

A witness told police the car’s information and officers were able to find it on Main Street at Bernal Drive.

However, the driver wouldn’t stop and a pursuit continued to Tynan Village Apartments on Front and Alisal Streets.

The group then tried to run away, but police were able to arrest 18-year-old Desire Petty, 28-year-old Pahalad Kumar, who was the driver, and 26-year-old David Hardy.

Officers also recovered the stolen safe, which did contain firearms.
