Drug lab busted in downtown Hollister
An illegal THC lab was busted in downtown Hollister Wednesday after officers said they responded to a burglary alarm in the 800 block of San Benito Street.
Officers said as there were investigating the break in, they smelled marijuana and saw one man run and another man who tried to divert them away.
They also said marijuana and ammunition could be seen out in the open. Joseph Gilliam, 36, and Darien Nitahara, 54, both from San Jose, were detained.
Officers said they discovered flavored syrups, plastic bottles full of liquid THC, cannabis residue and Everclear alcohol.
Drug agents they found several machines and equipment used to cultivate marijuana indoors for sale.
Both men were arrested and taken to the San Benito County Jail.
