Seaside man sentenced for attempted kidnapping

Seaside man Salvador Perez, 36, was sentenced to 5 years in state prison for attempting to kidnap a 10-year-old boy from a fast food restaurant, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s office.

Back in November 2015, Perez grabbed the boy’s arm and tried to drag him out of a Church’s Chicken restaurant. When the boy’s grandmother tried to stop Perez, he knocked her to the ground. A good Samaritan helped by tackling Perez. He managed to escape only to be found and arrested by Seaside officers.

The judge said the crime “…strikes at the heart of every parent, to have a child kidnapped in broad daylight by a stranger.”
