Consumer action against Wells Fargo Bank. What you need to know

In the comment section on an earlier story about Wells Fargo Bank getting hit with a fine involving the creation of fake accounts for bonuses, someone asked what they should do.

KION called the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in Washington, D.C., but we’ve not heard back yet.

However, here’s what we learned from the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office:

Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer filed the consumer action lawsuit against Wells Fargo Bank. On the office’s website, Feuer has this advice for concerned account holders:

“If you are a Wells Fargo customer in California and believe the bank has opened accounts for you that you did not authorize, you may be entitled to restitution or other relief. Please contact the Wells Fargo number listed on your statement or visit a local branch office.”

Feuer says he coordinated his lawsuit with several government agencies, that conducted their own investigations.
