Clinton chooses Kaine as running mate
Hillary Clinton announced Friday that she has chosen Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine to be her running mate. Kaine is seen as a steady and seasoned hand in government, one who represents a key battleground state.
Clinton made the announcement via Twitter to her supporters. “I’m thrilled to announce my running mate, @TimKaine, a man who’s devoted his life to fighting for others. -H,” she tweeted.
Kaine, 58, is considered a political insider. The Virginia senator is a former governor of Virginia and served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
Clinton is expected to formally introduce her new partner at a campaign rally Saturday in Miami.
