Salinas officer and Walmart manager replace stolen bike

On Thursday a Salinas police officer and a manager at Walmart split the cost of a new bike for a young man who had his stolen.

According to city leaders, he lives in East Salinas and volunteers at Peacock Acres in South Salinas, a non-profit that works with foster children.

Apparently the young man was planning to walk on Thursday. But city leaders said a manager at the Walmart on North Main Street heard about the incident and decided to help out.

The Salinas police officer also decided to pitch in.
