UPDATE: Two suspects arrested during shooting investigation in Salinas, one still missing

UPDATE 7/19/2016 9:50 AM: Salinas Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a third person suspected of being involved in Monday night’s shooting on South Hebbron Avenue.

Officers reported hearing gunshots at around 6:00 p.m. Monday night. When they attempted to stop a car being driven recklessly, the driver took off.

During the pursuit, a passenger identified as Martin Hoyos, 19, ran from the car with a with a .45 caliber semi-automatic in his hand. He was eventually tased and taken into custody in the area of St. Edwards and St. Charles Way.

Police found the car abandoned in the 800 block of North Madeira Avenue. A police K9 discovered Jose Rocha, 21, hiding in the bushes.

The third suspect was not found.

UPDATE 7/19/16 3:04 AM: Police believe one suspect in the Hebbron Avenue shooting and car chase is still on the loose.

The two other suspects in custody have now been identified as 19-year-old Martin Hoyos and 21-year-old Jose Rocha.

Based on the investigation, police believe the three suspects are responsible for the 15 rounds fired in the 100 block of S. Hebbron Avenue.

No one was injured in the shooting, but one home and two vehicles were struck by bullets.

There were three people in one of the vehicles struck by multiple bullets, but no one was hurt.

PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas police say they were responding to reports of a shooting Monday night on Hebbron Avenue, when they noticed a car driving recklessly.

Officers tried to stop the car, but it took off. They chased the car before the suspects got out and started to run. Police say one suspect tried to throw out a gun while running, he was arrested and the gun was recovered. Officers began a backyard search for the second suspect in the Laurel Heights area. He was eventually bitten by a K9 unit and arrested.

Police say some parked cars were hit during the shooting on Hebbron, but no one was hurt.
