Salinas woman falls from car at 65 m.p.h.
A Salinas woman is recovering on Monday after falling out of a car on Highway 101 near Soledad Sunday night.
According to California Highway Patrol, a caller reported seeing someone lying in the northbound lane of Highway 101, just south of Camphora Gloria Road, around 10:42 p.m.
Officers said Jocelyn Villagrana, 19, was a passenger in a Cadillac Escalade, headed toward Salinas with family members. Villagrana had been drinking and felt sick, leaned over her sister to roll down the window and fell out while the car was traveling 65 miles per hour, according to CHP.
Family members tell CHP they didn’t notice she was missing until they got to Gonzales, where they stopped to look for her. After searching for 10 minutes, the driver left the roadway and pulled into a McDonald’s, where they began to call family members.
Officers say drugs or alcohol are not a factor for the driver and they’re still investigating whether the incident was an accident or not.
