Holman Highway construction will be complete before July 4th rush

A two mile section of Highway 68 in Pacific Grove is getting a face lift.

“They grind about four inches then they pave it again. They have spot locations that are worse off than others,” said Caltrans District 5 Public Information Officer Susana Cruz.

Four sections spanning from Skyline Forest Drive to Adobe Lane will be repaved.

“It will give you more pleasure as far as commuting, it won’t be a bumpy ride,” said Cruz.

On Wednesday work will continue where Presidio Blvd. and Highway 68 meet. Then Thursday, crews will complete construction Westbound near Adobe Lane.

“It’s a win-win all around. It keeps our roads safer, it’s better for the vehicles and also for the motorists. There are small delays, but the benefits are pretty big and pretty substantial,” said Cruz.

CHP will be present to assist with traffic control, however you should still expect 15 to 20 minute delays.

“We just want motorist to drive safely through the area and to keep the workers safe,” said CHP Officer Oscar loza.

CHP advises people to slow down and move over when possible.

“If you are cited in a construction zone the fine is double what it normally would be,” said Loza.
