Former Gilroy HS teacher accused of posing as a porn star to lure boys
A former Gilroy High School chemistry teacher is being charged with 19 felony counts and one misdemeanor for luring nine boys and posing as a porn star on Facebook Messenger, according to the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office.
The DA said Douglas Le is accused of communicating with boys online posing as a teenage girl, convincing them to send him explicit pictures and videos. On Monday, Le was arraigned on those charges, after “catfishing” students between June 2014 and January 2016 at Gilroy High School and another high school in Santa Clara County.
Investigators said Le went by the name “Rae Pelletier” to lure boys into sending him explicit content. In April, Facebook alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that the “Rae Pelletier” account may have been having inappropriate communication with a minor, according to the DA. Le’s home was searched on April 26th and he was arrested the same day.
Le is being charged with child pornography, communication with a minor to participate in a sex crime and sending or receiving harmful matter with a minor. He’s also charged with one count of annoying or molesting a minor.
Le did not enter a plea on Monday and his next court date is set for July 20. The DA said Le was taken back to jail, after his attorney requested he be released.
