ATM machine stolen from Santa Cruz minimart

An ATM machine was stolen from a Santa Cruz minimart early Wednesday morning after the suspects intentionally smashed a stolen car into the front of the store, police said.

Santa Cruz Police said three male suspects were seen in surveillance video, smashing a stolen gray colored Honda Accord station wagon into DJ’s Minimart in the 800 block of Water St.

Officers said two suspects got out of the car, ran inside and tried to grab the ATM but weren’t able to break it free. That’s when the driver rammed into the ATM, knocking it free and the other two suspects lifted it into the back of the wagon. Police said all three suspects drove away north on Branciforte Ave.

The stolen wagon was found in a driveway in the 2000 block of Soquel Ave., but the ATM machine was gone, police said.

Santa Cruz Police said two suspects were wearing grey hoodies and the third was wearing a dark jacket and orange beanie.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 831-420-5820.
