UPDATE: ‘King Fire’ in San Benito County contained at 237 acres

UPDATE 6/20/16 10:45PM: Cal Fire officials have fully contained the King Fire in San Benito County Monday night at 237 acres.

The fire damaged two homes and two structures.

UPDATE 11:17 PM: The King Fire that sparked Friday evening in San Benito County keeps growing. According to Cal Fire it’s now 237 acres and is 15-percent contained.

Cal Fire is reporting two homes and two structures have been damaged.

UPDATE 8:28 PM: A wildfire burning in San Benito County has grown to 100 acres, according to Cal Fire.

Fire officials said two structures have been damage.

Cal Fire crews are battling a 40 acre wildfire burning in a remote part of San Benito County.

The “King Fire” is burning grass and brush near Lewis Creek and Highway 198. Two structures have either been damaged or destroyed.

Cal Fire spokesperson Jonathan Pangburn says eight engines and two hand crews are on scene. Two tankers and a helicopter are working overhead to help contain the fire.

No word what the cause of the fire is, or when it will be contained.
