Castroville man convicted of firing gun near two local nightclubs
A Castroville man has been found guilty after prosecutors say he fired a gun six times in or near two Castroville nightclubs back in March.
Daniel Fuentes, 44, was convicted of firing a gun with gross negligence, being a felon in possession of a gun, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest for the March 19 incident.
Shortly after the shooting, witnesses identified Fuentes to Monterey County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Deputies said he disobeyed their commands and tried to run from them. That’s when they unleashed K-9 Argos. Deputies say as he wrestled with the dog, they saw Fuentes reach for a 9mm semi-automatic pistol hidden within his waistband.
Daniel Fuentes faces up to 5 years and 4 months in prison when he is sentenced on August 5, 2016.
