Locals gather to watch election results come in
Volunteers were at the Monterey Democratic headquarters in Seaside, California all day making calls urging locals to vote and celebrating California’s primary.
While so far Hillary Clinton is the presumptive nominee for the party, locals told KION they think that Clinton and Bernie Sanders going head to head is exciting and will mean positive results no matter who is chosen.
“We can’t lose, we’ve got Donald Trump on the other side and that’s a scary prospect,” said Monterey County democratic party chair Vinz Koller. “I think that’s actually going to drive a lot more voters in our direction in the fall.”
Headquarter officials told KION Sanders and Clinton’s visits to the Central Coast have created a lot of local buzz, which has helped to bring out a lot more volunteers to help.
Officials said after the National Democratic Convention in July, they’ll start building a campaign plan to recruit thousands of volunteers. They will do everything from making calls to traveling to other states to get votes.
