Hillary Clinton now the presumptive nominee; supporters in Santa Cruz are celebrating

UPDATE 6/7/2016 10:20 PM: Santa Cruz for Hillary hosted a watch party on Tuesday at the Food Lounge in Santa Cruz.

Volunteers have been campaigning for months and they finally feel like their work has paid off.

Preliminary results show Hillary Clinton is way ahead of Sen. Bernie Sanders among California Democrats. Earlier this evening, Clinton claimed the nomination. She has now won the majority of the delegates, making her the first female presumptive presidential nominee.

“I want girls, I want boys, I want young men, I want young women to see that women are equal and we have and deserve the right to be in position of authority and decision making,” said Carole English with Santa Cruz for Hillary.

Still, English said it’s not over yet. Volunteers will continue to campaign until the election is over in November.
