Salinas Fire Department will fill the boot for charity
Firefighters in Salinas will be working to fill the boot as part of a campaign to raise money for various charities, including children and adults with muscular dystrophy, and ALS.
This weekend, firefighters will collect your donations on Davis Road between Laurel and Westridge Parkway Drive, so be prepared to see many of these boots on Salinas streets .
“The event for me is very significant,” said Suze Cottle-Gavalla, a retired engineer with the Salinas Fire Department. “We have a family member, one of the daughters and granddaughters of one of our retired assistant fire chief. Her family is afflicted with muscular disease and so the battle to help them find a cure really is important because of the family that’s now affected.”
Funds will also help send more than 10 local children to the “best week of the year,” a local summer camp.
