Man arrested after chasing parking officer’s scooter

What started as a parking citation turned into a case of assault with a deadly weapon Tuesday afternoon.

Salinas Police say Marco Suarez, 22, chased after a parking control officer after she cited him for parking in a red zone in the 2300 block of North Main Street.

According to the officer, Suarez first chased her on foot, then drove his car at a high rate of speed to pull alongside her scooter. The officer says Suarez swerved into her lane, forcing her to take evasive action to avoid being struck. Suarez turned off when they reached traffic at North Main and Boronda Road.

A Salinas Police officer later contacted Suarez an arrested him. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail for felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
