ORIGINAL STORY:

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will stop in Salinas Wednesday as she campaigns through California.

“Everybody is very, very excited to have the candidate herself here. It’s really, really big,” said Barbra Svetlik.

Svetlik is a Hillary supporter. She’s busy calling people asking them to vote for Clinton. She hopes Clinton’s presence will encourage people to vote.

“People who are thinking the primary isn’t so important will realize if she’s here it must be important, let’s get out and vote,” said Svetlik.

Both Clinton and Bernie Sanders are going after the Latino vote, making the Central Coast an important stop.

“Let’s look at Greenfield, let’s look at Chualar, let’s look at San Juan Bautista. It really is an outreach to these communities,” said Shawn Bagley with the Democratic National Committee.

Bagley lives in Salinas and supports Clinton. He said she’s not taking Latino voters for granted.

“Hillary feels she should be able to have a pathway to citizenship. You should be able to keep your family together,” said Bagley.

Bagley said Clinton’s team scouted out different locations Monday morning. Hartnell is one possible option. Clinton visited Hartnell during her first run for presidency in 2008.

California’s primary is June 7, Monday marking the last day to register to vote.
