Man dies during stage 4 of Amgen tour
UPDATE 5/18/16 4:12 PM: A video crew member died today while covering the fourth stage of the Amgen Tour of California. Witnesses say the unidentified victim suffered a medical emergency and crashed his motorcycle in Big Sur, just a few minutes after entering Monterey County. He was driving a photographer at the back of the race when the emergency occurred. The photographer survived.
ORIGINAL STORY: After racing nearly 134 miles from Morro Bay, a caravan of bicycles, support vehicles and law enforcement will roll into Monterey County this afternoon for the Stage 4 finish of the Amgen Tour of California professional bike race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Race organizers expect the winner to cross the finish line around 3:45 pm.
The California Highway Patrol says drivers can expect traffic delays along Highway 1, Carmel Valley Road, Laureles Grade and Highway 68. Roads will reopen to normal traffic conditions as the races passes each intersection.
