New event inspires locals to express themselves

The first Santa Cruz Mini Maker Faire was held Saturday at the Gateway School.

Attendees got to enjoy interactive activities, robotics and engineering, along with arts and crafts inspired by the minds of locals.

Eevent coordinators told KION it’s all about tapping into the spirit of creativity and invention.

“You know there are a lot of people who do really cool things in Santa Cruz, we want to give them an outlet.” said Zachary Roberts with Gateway School. “So all of our exhibitors, all of our makers, performers, food vendors all come from Santa Cruz.

About 1300 people showed up to festival.

Event coordinators said they plan on hosting another Santa Cruz Mini Maker Faire next year.
