Police searching for suspects in Santa Cruz drive-by

Santa Cruz police are investigating a weekend shooting. They were called to the 500 block of Center Street shortly before Midnight on Sunday for a report of gunshots.

Several witnesses told police they heard multiple shots before seeing two cars speed off in opposite directions from near Center and Elm Streets. Officers were able to track down one of the cars, a gold Acura, in the 700 block of Chestnut street in what police called a “high-risk car stop”. The car had several bullet holes along the driver’s side. Two men and one woman from Salinas were found inside the car, but police aren’t releasing their names, calling them victims.

Police are still looking for a dark colored sedan last seen driving southbound on Cedar Street. No other suspect information was available.The Santa Cruz Police Department is asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the shooting to contact investigators at 831- 420-5820.
