Extra security at Carmel High after bomb/gun threat

School is underway at Carmel High School Monday, with extra security from the Carmel Police Department and the Monterey County Sheriffs Office.

According to the Carmel High School website, the Sheriff’s Office contacted the school Sunday afternoon after a bomb/gun threat was anonymously posted on social media. Because the threat was posted anonymously, authorities are not able to determine a source yet.

Authorities did a sweep of the campus Sunday night and found no evidence of a threat. Two security guards remained on the campus throughout the night.
