#SB50: What trended on Super Bowl Sunday
Lots of action on the field for Super Bowl 50, but also lots of action online. The Super Bowl is a huge platform for all types of social media.
This year, the NFL partnered with Twitter to bring its game face, and Levi’s Stadium was equipped to handle all of the sharing.
#SB50 trended on Twitter all day.You probably noticed a special football emoji with it, part of the app’s Super Bowl 50 features.
As for more high-tech features, Levi’s Stadium is one of the most technologically advanced – built to accommodate phone-friendly fans with 1,200 WiFi access points.
“I’m just snapping around, showing the SB50,” one fan said.
During the tailgate alone, AT&T reported their customers used more than 2.1 terabytes of data, equal to 5.8 million social media posts with photos.
The conversations covered everything from highlights on the field to Super Bowl snacks (#SnackStadiums), and of course, the commercials.
#PuppyMonkeyBaby got a lot of action from the now infamous Mountain Dew commercial. Doritos and Prius soared with their spots, and so did the musicians.
Lady Gaga got a lot of applause on her performance and #BelieveinLove popped up after the very well-received halftime show featuring Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyonce. Lots of color, lots of dancing, and even a tribute to past halftime shows.
