CHP prepares for Super Bowl traffic
Super Bowl weekend has officially kicked off. From parties to concerts, thousands offans fromacross the Central Coast and the country are flocking to the Bay Area.
But with the big game also come big crowds. Santa Cruz Area California Highway Patrol officer Bradley Sadek said it’s going to be busier than your average Super Bowl Sunday.
“There it’s unique because we do have the Super Bowl so close,” he said.”We are going to have a lot of people that are actually going to be making that pilgrimage up to the stadium to watch the game.”
To help fans deal with the traffic the CHP launched a new website, www.SuperBowl50Traffic.com. Users will find traffic advisories, detours and road closures.
Still, Sadek said the best way to avoid traffic is to head out the door as early as you can.
“The biggest thing is just to be patient and give yourself plenty of time,” Sadek said.”Using things like Google maps to map out your route so you know where you’re going prior to hitting the road will really reduce the frustration.”
