Microsoft Computer Repair Scam circulating Santa Cruz County

The Santa Cruz County District Attorney’s Office is warning residents about a Microsoft Computer Scam. Officials say victims are losing thousands of dollars.

The caller claims the victim’s computer has a virus and then asks for remote access to fix it. The scammer then infects the computer, “fixes” it, and asks for payment.

If you’ve been a victim, you can call the county’s Consumer Affairs Unit at 831-454-2050. The D.A.’s office also suggests filing a report with your local police department.
