Deadly poisonous or delicious edible fungi

The 42nd annual Santa Cruz Fungus Fair showcased hundreds of species of local fungi.

Speakers, vendors and even ice cream helped educate and create more awareness about fungi to people who are curious and mushroom enthusiast.

“If you’re going to come look at mushrooms you can only do it one time a year which is the rainy season,” said Christian Schwarz, minister of science for the Fungus Federation of Santa Cruz. “The fair is sort of the best way to collect all that energy and enthusiasm and see it all on display at once.”

The event is also a fundraiser for the Fungus Federation of Santa Cruz.
