UPDATE 1/6/2016 PM: A Plumas County judge has agreed to dismiss child abuse and torture charges on murder suspects Tami Huntsman and Gonzalo Curiel.

Those charges are related to a 9-year-old survivor who was found beaten and starved.

“Essentially what you’re looking at is one prosecution rather than three prosecutions across the state. One jury will hear all the facts and I do believe that this is the most efficient path to justice,” said Plumas County District Attorney David Hollister.

Hollister said Monterey County law enforcement officials will have five days to pick-up Huntsman and Curiel from the Plumas County Jail.

Huntsman and Curiel are charged with murdering and torturing 3-year-old Delylah Tara and 6-year-old Shaun Tara. Police say the two young siblings died as a result of ongoing physical abuse that started in Salinas.

“It was decided that Monterey would be the appropriate place candidly because the bulk of the crime occurred in Monterey,” said Hollister.
