Salinas police investigate reported shooting on Perez Street

Salinas police are investigating a reported shooting.

A 32-year-old Hispanic man says he was approached while in the 2000 block of Perez Street around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The suspect asked the victim what he claimed and when the victim denied gang affiliation, the suspect shot the victim.

The victim was able to drive himself to CHOMP, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 17-19-years-old, approximately six foot and possibly wearing a gray jacket and baseball cap.

The suspect may have fled the area in a dark green SUV.
