Salinas police: Grenade found at shooting scene
A live grenade was found at the scene of a shooting in Salinas Sunday morning, according to police.
Investigators said they responded to a shooting on the 700 block of University Avenue around 4:23 a.m.
On arrival, police found a house had several bullet holes. Police said there were people inside the home at the time of the shooting, but nobody was hurt.
Police also found a live grenade just below the bullet holes.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was called in. Deputies with the bomb squad safely detonated the grenade on the scene.
No suspect information has been released.
Police said they are investigating this as a gang-related incident.
This is Salinas’ second shooting within three days.
