UPDATE: Salinas police ID man found dead inside car on Christmas day
UPDATE 12/28/15: Salinas police identified the man found dead inside a vehicle on Christmas day as Efren Castro.
Investigators said they found his body inside a parked vehicle on the 1100 block of Kimmel Street.
Police said Castro had signs of traumatic injuries.
UPDATE 5:55 PM: Salinas police are now investigating the city’s 40th homicide this year.
Just before 7 a.m. Friday, officers located a suspicious vehicle on the 1100 block of Kimmel Street. Inside officers found the body of a 49-year-old man.
Police said the victim had signs of traumatic injury. Police believe the 49-year-old was transported to the location after his death.
The identity of the victim has not been released.

UPDATE 11:03 AM.: Salinas police officials are now calling the case a possible homicide investigation. This would be the city’s 40th homicide case of 2015.
Officers have also confirmed that the victim in this case is a man in his 40s.

Salinas police officials confirmed that officers discovered a body inside a car Christmas morning.
Officers arrived at the 1100 block of Kimmel Street just before 7 am. to investigate a crime. While at the scene, officers were taken to a suspicious vehicle where they found a body inside.
The cause of death is under investigation, however officers are calling it “suspicious nature.”
