Young boy hit by car in Salinas

A 10-year-old boy is in the hospital after he was hit by a car in Salinas.

According to the Salinas Police Department, the boy was hit on Sanborn Road near La Paz Middle School just before 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The boy was with a group of about 15 people before he crossed the street and was struck by the car. The driver of the car then took off.

The boy was taken to Natividad Medical Center and was later flown to a Bay Area hospital.

Police said the boy was seriously hurt.

Witnesses at the scene were not cooperating with police, but some did describe the vehicle involved as a gray or silver and possibly a Honda with a headlight out.

Police are asking for the public’s help finding the person responsible for the hit-and-run.
