Incumbent Fernando Armenta running for MoCo Board of Supervisors
The race for a Monterey County Supervisor’s seat is getting crowded. Incumbent Fernando Armenta announced Monday he’ll seek another four-year term.
Armenta talked about his experience as a veteran, an activist for the United Farm Workers and Healthcare Advocate.
He said he’s getting the support of educators, unions and political leaders. When it comes to facing the other two candidates, Assembly member Luis Alejo and Salinas Councilman Tony Barrera, Armenta said he has the most leadership experience.
“Nothing disrespectful to Luis and Mr. Barrera, but the fact of the matter is my experience is local. I was born and raised here. You can’t be halfway connected. I know this community,” Armenta said.
The three will face off in the June primaries and if need be, in a November runoff.
