Salinas Police looking for person responsible for beating dog to death
Salinas Police are investigating a case of animal cruelty and the department needs the public’s help finding the person responsible for the crime.
According to police, a resident found one of his dogs injured in his yard on Thursday.
The side gate to the man’s home on Williams Road was open when he returned home so he walked into the back and saw a large amount of blood in the back yard. The man then noticed that his pit bull had been severely beaten.
The dog had two broken legs, cuts to his jaw and a large amount of tissue torn from his mouth.
The man rushed the dog to the veterinarian, but the injuries were so severe the dog had to be euthanized.
Police are looking for a motive for the attack. Investigators believe the attacker may have entered the yard with the intention of burglarizing the home and was confronted by the dog.
