Highway 68 now open after car hits power pole

Highway 68 is open between Lower Ragsdale Drive and Canyon Del Rey Blvd.

The Monterey Fire Department said the road opened between 3 and 4 AM Sunday.

PG&E had to replace the power pole that an SUV struck in the late afternoon Saturday, firefighters said.

The Monterey Fire Department responded to a vehicle rollover that has shutdown Highway 68 between Ragsdale Drive and Canyon Del Rey Blvd. Saturday.

Firefighters said the vehicle sheared off part of a high-voltage power pole.

One person was transported to Natividad Medical Center but it is unclear how badly hurt that person is, firefighters said.

The crash happened at 4:30 p.m. and the cause is still under investigation.
