Street race leads to high speed chase through Salinas, Deputies said

Monterey County Deputies arrested a Half Moon Bay man after leading them on a high speed chase through Salinas, Saturday.

According to deputies, they responded to a report of street racing near Gonzales around 12:39 a.m.

On Arrival they found several drivers leaving the scene, including 18-year-old Anthony Hernandez.

Deputies spotted him speeding through Highway 101 near Hartnell Road. When authorities tried to stop him, deputies said he took off at a speed reaching 120 mph.

Hernandez was chased along highway 101, 68 and into Ryan Ranch and then back to Salinas’ Toro Park where he finally stopped and surrendered.

Hernandez was arrested without incident and was booked into the Monterey County Jail.
