UPDATE: One person hit and killed by car
UPDATE 11/18/11:30 AM: The California Highway Patrol released new information about what happened Tuesday night when a pedestrian was hit and killed on Highway 101 near Sala Road.
According to the CHP, the pedestrian was in the center divide and stepped out directly in the path of a 2002 Hyndai Sante Fe.
The CHP said the 24-year-old driver of the car tried to swerve out of the way, but was unable to completely miss the pedestrian. The pedestrian died from impact.
The driver of the Hyndai has not been arrested.
UPDATE 11/17/15 9:37 PM: All lanes on Highway 101 are now back open after a fatal accident Tuesday night.
ORIGINAL STORY: One person is dead after being hit by a car on Highway 101 near Blackie Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, one lane on the southbound side of the highway is closed.
