Greenfield Police Department getting nearly $1 million in sales tax funds
GREENFIELD, Calif. – The Greenfield police department will be getting about $800,000 dollars aimed at increasing public safety in the community.
The police department said that part of the money has already gone toward increasing officer salaries.
The money will also be used to hire two new police officers and a full time detective.
Officers in Greenfield said it’s being well spent.
“To have more officers, retain more officers, add to our department,” said Greenfield Police Officer Arnulfo Trevino. “We want to thank the community for passing that measure, that measure is going to benefit the community in many ways.”
The money comes from a new one cent sales tax in the city. Voters approved those funds after passing measure V and W during the November elections of 2015.
