Salinas grocery story employee buys lucky scratcher
A Salinas grocery story employee won the top prize on a $5 California Gold Rush Scratchers® ticket.
Fernando Montero, 33, bought the ticket from Oak Park Market on San Juan Grade Road. He was on his way to work when he realized he won $500,000.
Through an interpreter, Montero said,”It was one of those moments where you look around and you really can’t see anything — where everything is fuzzy and greyed out. I was thinking, ‘this can’t be!”
Montero said he had a good feeling he was going to win after dreaming he would. He isn’t sure how he’s going to spend the money yet.
