CHP investigates fatal accident in Gilroy

California Highway Patrol officers are investigating a deadly, single-car accident in Gilroy. Officers report a 23-year-old from San Martin was killed.

According to CHP, the accident happened Sunday evening around 7 p.m. The department reports a 23-year-old driving a Dodge Ram veered off Highway 101 near Masten Avenue and hit a guardrail, a metal pole, and an electric box.

CHP said the vehicle overturned and the 23-year-old was ejected from the car. Emergency responders said the driver died on scene.

CHP has not identified the driver. An investigation into the cause continues.
