Stolen car crashes into Castroville home after chase
One suspect is on the run, after a chase with a stolen car that ended with the vehicle crashing into a home.
It happened on Wednesday just before midnight when Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies saw a silver sedan fail to yield at a stop sign at Jackson Street and Wood Street in Castroville.
After a short chase, the car eventually crashed into a house on Merritt Street.
Officials say the driver was able to escape on foot, but two passengers identified as Julian Melgoza and Rodrigo Lopez were arrested on outstanding warrants and probation violations.
The car was reported stolen out of Salinas and a handgun was left at the scene.
