Santa Cruz Warriors look to defend title on opening night
The Santa Cruz Warriors are kicking off a new season, coming in as the 2015 NBA D League Champions.
They’re back at it again at the Kaiser Permanente where they battled it out against the Bakersfield Jam.
A ring ceremony honoring their championship and a banner dropping kicked things off.
It was a sold out event with just about 2,500 tickets sold.
“To bring home our first ever franchise and celebrate it here with our friends and our family that is the community is huge,”said Gina Antoniello, Santa Cruz Warriors director of public relations and community relations. “It’s big for town, It’s big for the team and it’s big for golden state.”
The game is also expected to bring a lot of economic boom to downtown Santa Cruz businesses.
This season the Santa Cruz Warriors will play 24 home games.
They head to L.A. Saturday to take on the defenders.
Season tickets are on sale. Fans can stop by the Santa Cruz Warriors office at 903 Pacific Avenue, Suite 101, or call 831-713-4400.
