Vaccination Clinic Extravaganza for pets Saturday
Monterey County Animal Services is helping pet owners stay healthy and safe at a one-stop shop Saturday.
Called the Vaccination Clinic Extravaganza, Rabies, DA2PP and FVRCP vaccinations will be $10 each. The rabies vaccination is required by law for all cats and dogs over 4-months-old.
The first 200 animals vaccinated for rabies, or having proof of a rabies vaccination, will be able to get free microchips thanks do a donation from Animal Welfare Assistance Group. Microchips will also be available for $10.
“Animals that are microchipped are more likely to be returned to their owners,” Monterey County Shelter Director Mike Richards said in a press release. “A study at animal shelters showed that dogs without microchips were returned to their owners 22% of the time, microchipped dogs were returned to their owners 52% of the time. Cats without microchips were reunited with their owners only 2% of the time, microchipped cats went back home 39% of the time.”
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 160 Hitchcock Road in Salinas on Saturday, Nov. 14.
